Lancaster man crashes car after fatal shooting

A Lancaster man crashed his car into a house after being fatally shot on Saturday night.

Lancaster County sheriff’s deputies received reports of gunshots on Douglas Road around 11:20 p.m. On scene, deputies found a Honda Accord had crashed into a home on the 2500 block of Douglas Road after the driver had been shot.

Carlos Antonio Massey, 29, was shot multiple times, according to the sheriff’s department. He was transported from the scene to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Massey lived around the corner from where he was shot, in an apartment on Lynwood Drive. Evidence was collected from the scene of the crash as well as the parking lot outside Massey’s apartment, according to a sheriff’s office release.

No suspects in Massey’s shooting have been arrested.

“I am certain there are witnesses who know what happened to Mr. Massey,” said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile in a statement. Faile called on anyone with information about the shooting to contact the sheriff’s office.

Witnesses are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 803-283-3388, or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC (274-6372), or visit www.sccrimestoppers.com.
