Charlotte man sentenced in child pornography case

A Charlotte man was sentenced this week to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty in a child pornography case.

Federal prosecutors said Paul Edward Baalerud, 56, used software to share 99 images and videos of children and toddlers being sexually abused.

Baalerud pleaded guilty in July to transportation of child pornography. He has been in federal custody since October 2014.

U.S. District Judge Max Cogburn Jr. also sentenced Baalerud to a lifetime of supervised release after he serves his sentence and to register as a sex offender.
