One dead in wreck at I-77 exit 28 in Cornelius

One person died in a head-on collision between a car and a tractor-trailer early Saturday on Interstate 77 southbound at Cornelius exit 28, said Bill Suthard, spokesman for the Huntersville Fire Department.

The wreck closed part of the interstate for several hours beginning shortly before 4 a.m.

The State Highway Patrol had no information available about the wreck on Saturday afternoon.
