Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating two early morning shootings Wednesday that sent two men to the hospital with minor injuries.

A man was shot about 12:30 a.m. when he opened the door of his home on Horizon Circle near The Plaza and was confronted by three men, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.

Police said the shooting wasn’t random. Police used a dog to help search for the assailants but haven’t found them, the station reported.

In a separate case, one person was shot around 1 a.m. outside the University Walk apartments off University City Boulevard. Police said the suspects and victims knew each other and detectives are looking into whether the case is connected to drugs.

Further details were not immediately available, but police said that at this time, the shooting doesn’t appear to be related to other shootings in the area in recent weeks.
