Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged five motorists with driving while impaired during an overnight checkpoint in Plaza Midwood, authorities said Friday.
The checkpoint was conducted between 11 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Central Avenue.
Police charged 17 motorists for having no license, one for driving with a suspended license and one for a drug offense, said CMPD Sgt. Jesse Wood. Police filed a total of 43 charges.
Twenty-five officers helped at the checkpoint, including from Mecklenburg County ABC and the Cornelius Police Department.
