Man shot in north Charlotte home invasion

A manwas shot during a home invasion in north Charlotte Wednesday morning, police said.

The victim was shot in his upper thigh and “had lost a considerable amount of blood,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Lt. Dave Johnson said at the scene.

Medic reported taking the victim to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened about 8 a.m. in the 6700 block of Ridge Lane Road, off Rumple Road near Sugar Creek Road. A door had been forced open, Johnson said.

Two others were in the house but were uninjured, he said.

Police have not said what they believe led to the shooting or whether they have a suspect.
