Police: Clerk shot in Pineville 7-Eleven robbery

Police say a store clerk was shot after two armed suspects stole money from a 7-Eleven convenience store in Pineville early Friday.

Sometime after 3 a.m., two men with handguns entered the 7-Eleven at the corner of Johnston Road and McMullen Creek Parkway and demanded that the clerk give them money from the cash register, said Lt. Corey Copley with the Pineville Police Department.

The clerk did not resist but was still shot in his left forearm, Copley said. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The clerk was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

Police are reviewing surveillance video, interviewing witnesses and investigating whether the robbery is connected to other Charlotte-area 7-Eleven robberies.

Police describe the first suspect as wearing red pants, white gloves and a gray hooded sweatshirt that covered most of his face. The second suspect, authorities say, sported a black long-sleeved shirt, white pants, black gloves and a multicolored toboggan.

If anyone has any information or may have witnessed this robbery, contact the Pineville Police Department at 704-889-2231.
