A Gaston County toddler has died nearly a week after police say she was struck by a car in Gastonia in a hit-and-run.

The hit-and-run happened around 11 a.m. last Wednesday in the 1400 block of Westbrook Circle.

One-year-old Riley Bradley was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center before being moved to Levine Children’s Hospital, where she was treated for nearly a week.

According to a statement posted on a Facebook page created for the toddler, “the family would like to thank everyone for their love. And prayers. Riley is with Jesus now.”

Police said Riley’s mother was busy inside the house when the toddler wandered off. They are still investigating how that happened.

According to police, officers have located the car and the driver believed to be involved, around the corner from the accident scene. A neighbor’s dash-cam camera was rolling at the time of the hit-and-run and caught the car in the neighborhood moments before the accident.

They have questioned the driver of the car and say charges are expected. Police believe the driver is not a flight risk.

A GoFundMe page was recently set up for Riley Bradley by her sister.
