Newton man pleads guilty to 3 BB&T bank robberies

A Newton man faces up to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court in Charlotte this week to robbing three BB&T Bank branches.

Joshua Paul Wilson, 33, pleaded guilty to robbing a BB&T branch in Maiden in April 2014, a BB&T branch in Claremont in May 2014 and a branch in Valdese in June 2014.

According to court records, Wilson entered each branch wearing a hat and dark sunglasses and got money by intimidating the bank tellers.

Wilson took $1,579 from the Maiden branch, $3,990 from the Claremont branch and $8,927 from the Valdese branch, prosecutors said.

Wilson also faces $750,00 in fines.
