Cabarrus County student arrested in connection with bomb threat
A Cabarrus County high school student who made comments about joining ISIS was arrested Friday after making threats that led to the evacuation of the school, according to the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.
Paul Warner, 16, is charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and making a false bomb threat. Deputies told WBTV Warner made a bomb threat in class, and had at least one knife on him.
Investigators said Warner also made a comment about trying to join ISIS, but they did not go into detail about those comments.
Northwest Cabarrus High School was evacuated and, after a search, the building was “deemed safe,” Cabarrus County School officials said.
By Friday night, Warner had been released on bond.
