Huntersville man charged with cashing stolen SC lottery tix
A Huntersville man was charged on Tuesday with cashing in stolen South Carolina lottery tickets worth a total of $468.
Galen Gene Shanks, 41, cashed in tickets worth between $18 and $200 at nine different convenience stores in Richland or Kershaw County on November 23, 2015, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said in a news release.
The lottery tickets were stolen from a Marlboro County convenience store earlier on the same day, SLED said.
If convicted, Shanks could face up to five years in prison and/or a fine of $50,000 on each count, SLED said.
Shanks was being held at the Alvin S. Glen Detention Center Tuesday afternoon.
