Women injured during Lincoln County home invasion
Two women were injured during a home invasion and robbery north of Lincolnton late Wednesday, Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators said.
Authorities are searching for two men who pried open the door of a home in the 3400 block of Gladden Drive, hit the women inside and robbed them of $300 cash. Gladden Drive is off Buffalo Shoals Road near Maiden.
One of the women told officers she was in a back bedroom when she heard a noise near the front door shortly after 10 p.m. She went into the living room and came across two men in dark clothes, masks and gloves.
She said the men hit her, demanded money and placed a gun to her head. The woman, who is Hispanic and speaks little English, said she understood the word “money” and gave them the cash.
The intruders then fired two shots into the wall beside the front door. That’s when the second woman came out of her room nearby. She was hit by the gunmen and pushed back into her room.
The men then drove away. No vehicle description was available, but the car had loud mufflers, investigators said.
The victims were treated at the scene by Lincoln County EMS and were taken along with a young boy to stay with relatives in Lincolnton.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050 or Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909. A caller whose Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
