Police investigating fatal shooting of missing Salisbury teen

Salisbury police on Tuesday arrested the former boyfriend of a young woman who was found shot to death in a car.

Brandon Jerron Hawkins, 20, of Salisbury is accused of killing Talisha Danielle Crowder, 19, who was found Monday inside Hawkins’ 1991 Honda Accord in the parking lot at 311 N. Long St., police said.

Hawkins was being held without bond.

Crowder was attending Pfeiffer University and living on its main campus in Misenheimer, university communications director Susan Messina said. She said Crowder was a member of the school’s dance team.

Crowder graduated last summer from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College with an associate in arts degree, RCCC public information director Paula Dibley said. Last spring, Crowder graduated from the Early College High School based on the RCCC campus, Dibley said.
