2 Kannapolis churches spray-painted with swastikas, ‘Satan loves you!’
Two Kannapolis churches were vandalized over the weekend by someone who spray-painted swastikas, upside-down crosses and “Satan loves you!” on one of the buildings.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said it believes the same person or people are responsible for the incidents.
The churches are about 1 1/2 miles apart.
The Living Word Spirited Baptist Church on West C Street was vandalized between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. A church deacon who had stopped by to turn up the heat for the Sunday service discovered the vandalism.
The left side of the church was spray painted in several colors with such words as “Jeezus,” “Satan loves you!” and upside-down crosses.
The other church, St. Enoch Lutheran Church on Campbell Avenue, was vandalized between 3 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. Graffiti on the back side of the church fellowship hall includes swear words and “Satan loves us,” the sheriff’s office said.
Swastikas and more curse words were spray-painted on the windows and sidewalk.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Deputy Randal Addison at 704-216-8700 or Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687.
