Lincolnton man arrested on rape charge

A Lincolnton man was charged with statutory first-degree rape this week, after a 23-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted as a child from 2000 to 2005.

Joshua Adam Church, 31, was arrested Wednesday by Lincoln County sheriff’s Detective Dan Renn and was jailed on $15,000 bail.

Church was an acquaintance of the victim’s family, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
