Police: 1 person shot in west Charlotte on Thursday

A person was shot at a strip shopping center in the 3900 block of Wilkinson Boulevard on Thursday afternoon shortly before 1 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Police said they believe the shooting happened during an argument over a drug deal.

Medic reported treating the victim for life-threatening injuries and taking the person to Carolinas Medical Center. Police later said the victim’s injuries were no longer life-threatening.

Police found the victim behind an O’Reilly Auto Parts store in the 3800 block of Wilkinson Boulevard, at Hargrove Avenue.

Police at the scene said they had no one in custody but did not say whether they have a suspect.
