Police: 240 more Crime Stoppers tips received in 2015

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers tip line received 240 more tips last year than in 2014, and police made 20 more arrests from tips on the line.

Six homicide arrests resulted from Crime Stopper tips in 2015. Police arrested 108 fugitives and seized 34 guns from felons thanks to tips on the line last year.

Tips also led to the arrest of 16 robbery suspects and the seizure of $40,476 in drugs, according to figures released by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Thursday.

All total, police received 2,453 Crime Stopper tips in 2015, leading to 232 arrests.

Callers to the Crime Stoppers tip line can remain anonymous. The phone number is 704-334-1600. Callers are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
