Charlotte 17-year-old charged in 2 shootings

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a 17-year-old in two shootings in east Charlotte on Thursday.

Police charged Jahuan Long with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, conspiracy and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

One victim was shot about 6:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Milton Road, near North Sharon Amity Road and East W.T. Harris Boulevard. The male victim had life-threatening injuries, police said.

Later Thursday, police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 6400 block of East W.T. Harris and found a male with a gunshot wound. The victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries that were later upgraded to non-life threatening injuries.

Police haven’t said whether the victims knew Long.

Police arrested Long without incident on Friday at a home in the 6400 block of East W.T. Harris.
