18 Mecklenburg County felons and gang members charged in week-long operation

Authorities arrested 18 felons and gang members on weapons and drug charges last week in an operation that seized 15 firearms and various illegal drugs.

Operation Big Game Feb. 1-5 targeted violent felons and gang members on probation and parole in Mecklenburg County.

State and local law enforcement officers and federal agents participated in the operation.

Officers also recovered more than $2,600 in cash and a stolen motorcycle. Two of the seized firearms were determined to be stolen, according to an announcement of the arrests by the N.C. Department of Public Safety.

“This operation helped take dangerous drugs and weapons off our streets, put violators behind bars and sent a strong message to those on probation and parole that illegal activity will not be tolerated,” N.C. Public Safety Secretary Frank Perry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Those arrested and charged were:

▪ Omontie Rowe, possession of a firearm by a felon (one firearm seized).

▪ Marquise Leak, possession of a firearm by a felon (one firearm seized).

▪ Rishon Cedeno, simple possession of a schedule IV substance, felony probation violation.

▪ Kenneth Grier, trafficking in heroin, trafficking in MDMA/Ecstasy, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia.

▪ Herbert Jennings, felony parole violation, felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia.

▪ Franklin Johnson, felony parole violation, felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana.

▪ Azure Khoury, possession of a firearm by a felon (two firearms seized), felony possession of marijuana.

▪ Davante Lewis, possession of a firearm by a felon (six firearms seized), felony possession of marijuana.

▪ Thomas McCusker, felony possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, felony parole violation.

▪ Angelo Mejia, trafficking in cocaine, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep/sell narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stolen firearm, felony probation violation (one firearm seized).

▪ Schanzes Jackson, felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon (a gun) (one firearm seized).

▪ Bobby Abraham, possession of a Firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm (two firearms seized).

▪ David Reid, discharge a weapon in city limits (one firearm seized).

▪ Daronjonic Andrews, possession of drug paraphernalia.

▪ Drakkar Pittman, possession of marijuana.

▪ Kenneth Grier Jr., possession of marijuana.

▪ Sammie Davis, possession of marijuana.

▪ Irineous Sturdivant, felony possession of marijuana and felony probation violation.
