Man arrested in fatal screwdriver attack

James Norton, 29, has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a 62-year-old woman who was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver in an Asheville parking lot, authorities said.

Police said they found Christina Kessinger’s car in Madison County, where they took Norton into custody Saturday.

Investigators said Kessinger was attacked Friday in the parking lot of a small group of offices in north Asheville near Interstate 240. Paramedics revived her briefly before she died at the hospital.
