A man wanted on a murder charge in Eastern North Carolina surrendered to police after barricading himself in a home in northwest Charlotte early Tuesday, police said.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police SWAT team entered the home in the 11200 block of Pointer Ridge Drive about 3:45 a.m. and arrested the suspect without incident, police said. Pointer Ridge Drive is off Mount-Holly Huntersville Road. The house is in the Catawba Plantation subdivision.

WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, identified the man as Tyquan Ramont Powell, 20.

Powell is one of two men wanted by the Scotland Neck Police Department in Halifax County, in connection with the killing of another man.
