Taylorsville man accused of sexually assaulting 11-year-old

A Taylorsville man has been arrested and charged in connection with sexual assaults on an 11-year-old.

Alexander County sheriff’s investigators charged Ronnie Wayne Byrd, 51, with two counts of statutory rape, six counts of statutory sex offense and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Byrd was jailed on $1 million bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
