Police: Man had medical emergency before truck crashed
Police believe a man had some type of medical emergency Monday afternoon before losing control of his truck in west Charlotte and crashing into a tree.
James Herbert Nash, 58, was pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center following the crash on Archer Avenue, near where Clanton Road meets Interstate 77, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Nash was headed south when his 2015 Ford F-150 went off the left side of the road and struck a tree just after 4 p.m. Investigators have not specified what type of medical problem Nash had. They said excessive speed and alcohol use were not factors. Nash wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The crash is still under investigation. Police encouraged anyone with information about the collision to call CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit at 704-336-2678.
