Man sentenced to 7 years for Union County home invasion

A man was sentenced to seven years in prison this week for his role in an Indian Trail home invasion.

Alexander Saint Clair, 22, was convicted by a Union County jury Thursday of first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and safe-cracking.

In June 2014, Saint Clair planned with three teenagers to burglarize the home to steal the family’s safe, prosecutors said.

Saint Clair and two accomplices, armed with assault rifles, entered the home wearing masks and robbed the victims. A third accomplice remained outside in Saint Clair’s car. Saint Clair was later apprehended in South Carolina.
