A thief in a wolf mask broke into a Lincoln County convenience store and stole money early Monday.
The break-in occurred about 1:45 a.m. at the Food Country convenience store at 6638 N.C. 27 West, sheriff’s investigators said.
A clerk who opened the store around 7 a.m. found the air-conditioning unit pushed out of the wall and on the floor. A check of where money was placed Sunday night revealed that money was missing, investigators said.
Security footage shows the thief went directly to where the money was kept, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
The thief also wore a light-colored or gray hoodie and light-colored pants.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 704-732-9050 or Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for up to $1,000 cash for a Crime Stoppers tip that leads to an arrest.
