Hickory man sentenced to 5 years for robbing and stomping on woman
A Hickory man was sentenced to at least five years in prison this week after admitting he stole a purse from a woman, stomped on her and left her lying in a driveway.
The woman suffered numerous broken bones in the attack, prosecutors said.
Jamie Virgil Hicks, 20, pleaded guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Prosecutors said Hicks and co-defendant Katie Dawn Sessoms took the victim to a pharmacy in April 2015, but instead of returning her home, they drove her to a house in Granite Fall she didn’t recognize.
Hicks fired a Taser at the victim, pulled her out of the car and threw her to the ground before hitting her in the face with a handgun, according to the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office.
Sessoms is due in Caldwell County Superior Court April 4 on the same charges.
