A 19-year-old Dallas, N.C., man is accused of killing his former girlfriend’s puppy by dropping it off a second-story apartment stairwell landing, police said.
Gaston County Police charged Quavon Ryan Diaz with two counts of felony animal cruelty. Diaz was in the Gaston County Jail on $50,000 bail Wednesday.
Police said the 9-week-old Chihuahua was thrown 10 to 15 feet in the air before the puppy was dropped from the landing.
Police said they received a complaint about the incident last week, conducted several interviews and consulted with the Gaston County District Attorney’s office before filing the charges.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police Detective J.P. Brienza at 704-866-3320 or Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.
