Mooresville police seize 210 marijuana plants, arrest 2 on drug charges
Authorities on Friday seized 210 marijuana plants and arrested two men at a house in the 200 block of Brumley Road, off N.C. 152 in Mooresville.
The plants ranged from seedlings to 6-feet-tall, Mooresville police said Saturday. The grow operation had an automatic lighting system and automatic watering system, police said.
Police charged Thomas Nicholas Smith Jr., 49, and James Todd Moose, 47, with trafficking marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia. Each was jailed on $100,000 bail.
Mooresville police executed a search warrant at the house with assistance from Troutman police and Iredell County sheriff’s investigators.
“All evidence indicates the house was used solely for the purpose of growing, harvesting and packaging marijuana,” police said in a news release. “It did not appear to be lived in at the time. The case remains open for further investigation.”
