12-year-old girl shot during home invasion

A 12-year-old girl was shot during home invasion in Gastonia.

Police say the girl was shot in the knee on Red Tip Lane near Amber Crest Drive, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.

A Gastonia Police Department official says the incident happened around 9 p.m. Saturday. The suspect fled after breaking into the home and shooting the teen. The girl was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

Officers have not said if anyone is in custody. A description of of the suspect has not been released.
