Bessemer City man accused of sexually assaulting children

Gaston County police arrested a Bessemer City man in connection with sexual assaults against children.

Jody Victor Wiggins, 39, was charged with first-degree sex offense with a child and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Wiggins was in the Gaston County Jail on $500,000 bail Tuesday.

The investigation began the third week of February, and the offenses occurred from mid-2015 to present, police said.

The victims knew Wiggins before the offenses occurred, police said.

Police did not specify how many victims are involved and said they will release no further information.
