Shelby man accused of distributing child pornography

A Shelby man was arrested Wednesday on charges related to possessing and distributing child pornography.

Rodney Wayne Barrett, 46, was in the Cleveland County Detention Center on $250,000 bail Thursday.

Cleveland County sheriff’s investigators and agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Barrett’s house, seized his computer and arrested him.

Barrett was charged with four counts each of second-degree exploitation of a minor and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The charges involve possessing and distributing child pornography of girls ages 6 to 10, the sheriff’s office said. Barrett distributed the pornography to an undercover agent with the task force, the office said.
