Boots reveal suspects in Lincoln County break-in

The boots gave them away.

When Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies responded to a house break-in this week, the homeowner suspected the intruders were still nearby.

A window was pried open to enter the house in the 500 block of Wise Road in the western end of the county, the sheriff’s office said Thursday. Jewelry, clothing and electronics were stolen.

The victim told officers he believed he interrupted the break-in and that the intruders left toward a creek. Officers checked the creek and found a man and a woman walking in the water, one wearing boots stolen from the home.

Officers also found methamphetamine on the man and woman.

Adam Castillo, 36, and Chasta Alaine Buff, 33, both of Vale, were charged with a series of offenses ranging from breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
