Myrtle Beach woman arrested after fight breaks out in mall food court
A woman was charged with assault after a fight broke out between two women Monday in the Coastal Grand Mall food court over laughter and name calling.
Dajah Sharay Ward, 24, is charged with third-degree assault and battery, according to Myrtle Beach Jail records.
Myrtle Beach police were called about 6 p.m. Monday to the Coastal Grand Mall where a 25-year-old female victim reported the incident.
The victim told police she was eating lunch with some co-workers in the mall food court when she said Ward came up to her table and asked why the victim and her co-workers why they were laughing, and the victim told her it didn’t matter, police said.
She said Ward then started calling her names and saying she had bad make-up, and the victim told Ward she had gender issues. Ward then became angry, and the two women continued to argue, according to the police report.
The victim said she started to back away from Ward, but Ward got back in her face, and the victim pushed her away. The victim said Ward then grabbed her by the neck and threw her down to the ground, authorities said.
The victim got up and called police.
Several witnesses told police they saw the two women arguing loudly in the center of the food court before Ward grabbed the victim around the neck and pulled her to the ground, according to the report.
Ward told police the victim pushed her and she pushed her back before leaving the food court.
Ward is being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail where her bond has not been set.
