An 11-year-old boy was killed and three other people were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Gaston County Wednesday evening, according to officials.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. on Pinhook Loop Road near Cabin Street. Police said a Ford Explorer was speeding when it ran off the road.
The vehicle then hit a pole on the passenger side, flipped and landed on its roof.
The 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers were seriously injured.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, was arrested. There is no word on what charges the driver is facing.
