Police searching for 1970s El Camino pickup stolen from auto fair

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 1970s Chevy El Camino pickup that was in town for an auto fair.

The burgundy pickup is a show vehicle that went missing in the 8200 block of J.M. Keynes Drive in University City on April 9.

The El Camino has a “Barowski Race Engines” logo on both sides and Illinois tag 1475014B.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the car is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Callers will remain anonymous and can earn up to a $1,000 reward.

The pickup’s owner is offering an additional reward of $5,000 for the return of the vehicle.
