Woman in good condition after fatal wreck on Wilkinson Boulevard
A woman injured in a Wednesday wreck on Wilkinson Boulevard that killed her mother remained in good condition at Carolinas Medical Center Friday.
Shannon Hinson Young, who turned 45 Friday, was driving a Hyundai Elantra that was hit head-on by a pickup truck. Young’s mother, Joyce Burline Hinson, 72, was in the front passenger seat and died at CMC.
The pickup truck’s driver, Christopher Ryan Goss, 31, of Pennsylvania, was charged with driving while impaired. Police said they also obtained warrants for felony death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury by motor vehicle and careless and reckless driving.
Goss also has a driving under the influence conviction in Pennsylvania from 2009, and an involuntary manslaughter conviction for hitting someone with a car in 2004, records show.
Shannon Young’s friends and co-workers have set up a Go Fund Me account in her name to help with Hinson’s funeral expenses and medical expenses for Young.
