Suspect sought in Burke County child rape case

Burke County authorities are searching for a child rape suspect.

Omar Cristian Regino-Vera, 32, of Morganton, is charged with statutory rape of a child less than 13 years old.

Regino-Vera has gone into hiding, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said.

Anyone with information on Regino-Vera’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 828-438-5500.
