A 6-year-old boy was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision on Eastway Drive in east Charlotte Sunday afternoon.
The boy and his family were crossing in the 1300 block of Eastway, near Audrey Street, around 12:30 p.m., according to a report from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
The child has been identified as Anthony Santos Castellon-Rivera, according to a report by WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
Investigators are looking for the driver of a white work van that has a ladder rack on top. The vehicle may have a South Carolina license plate, according to CMPD’s report.

Witnesses told police the van stopped after the collision and the driver exited the van. Then the driver got back into the vehicle and drove away, the report said.
The man was described as a Hispanic male in his mid 30s with curly black hair. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, according to the report.
The boy was taken to Carolinas Medical Center but has not been identified.
The investigation shut down traffic Sunday afternoon between Sugar Creek Road and Shamrock Drive.
