2 Statesville men accused of sexually assaulting children
Authorities have charged two Statesville men in unrelated child sexual assault cases.
Sheriff’s investigators accuse Samuel Tyron Young, 51, of repeatedly raping a girl between 2010 and 2013. Investigators haven’t released the girl’s age.
Young was charged with 13 counts of first-degree rape of a child and 25 counts of statutory rape. He was jailed on $750,000 bail.
Kevin Renard Joyner, 33, was arrested in connection with sexual assaults of a 7-year-old. Joyner was a friend of the victim’s family, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.
Joyner was charged with four counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult offender and was jailed on $300,000
Joyner also was charged with a probation violation and given an additional $10,000 bail. He has drug possession charges pending and has drug convictions dating to 2003, Campbell said.
