Kannapolis police arrested and charged a China Grove man with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the death of 79-year-old Arthur Lee “Buddy” David.

David and suspect David Myron Dover, 53, knew each other well as co-workers at a Kannapolis car dealership, police said without naming the dealership.

Police found David dead after they were called to 2000 Chris Ann Lane about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday regarding a death investigation.

Dover was jailed without bail. He has a first appearance in Rowan County District Court Friday.

Police said they are withholding the cause of death pending the investigation.

“As with all criminal investigations, investigative efforts don’t cease with the arrest,” police said in a news release Thursday afternoon. “This is still a very active, dynamic and ongoing criminal investigation, so further details or releases of information will be limited.”

Police ask that anyone with information about the case call the Kannapolis Police Department at 704-920-4000 or Crime Stoppers at 704-932-7463.

A reward is available for anyone providing information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
