Charlotte man arrested in shooting of 16-year-old in Mount Holly

A Charlotte man was arrested in the shooting of a 16-year-old in Mount Holly Thursday night.

The teenager, Christopher Lee Randolph, was in stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center on Friday.

Police charged Adrian Xavier Skinner, 21, with attempted first-degree murder.

The shooting does not appear to have been random, Mount Holly Police Chief Don Roper said.

Witnesses told police that the occupants of a 2010 Kia Optima had been trying to find Randolph for several hours. When the occupants of the car came upon Randolph shortly before 9 p.m. in the 200 block of East Glendale Avenue, the driver pulled a handgun and fired at the teen, Roper said.

Randolph was shot once in the buttocks. Gaston County EMS paramedics took him to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, then he was transferred to Carolinas Medical Center.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested Skinner in Charlotte. He was taken into custody without incident.
