A Statesville man is in custody on drug charges after fleeing during a traffic stop, according to a report from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Fredrick Lamont McCorkle, 39, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony possession of a schedule II narcotics, fleeing to elude arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and five traffic charges.
McCorkle was driving on Charlotte Highway in the Mooresville area around 2:20 p.m. when he passed a vehicle in front of Shepard Elementary School in Mooresville, according to the report.
