2 shot on street east of uptown Charlotte

A man and a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were shot on a street east of uptown Wednesday morning.

The shootings in the 1300 block of Pamlico Street, off Hawthorne Lane, were not random, police said.

The male victim flagged down a Medic ambulance on Central Avenue, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Capt. Torri Tellis told reporters near the scene later Wednesday. Central Avenue is roughly a mile from where the man and woman were shot.

Police have not said if they have a suspect in the case or what they believe led to the shootings. Tellis said only that the shootings were not domestic-related.

Earlier Wednesday, police investigated an unrelated death on Cattail Court, off Plaza Road Extension near Interstate 485.

Police confirmed a man died but have not said what they believe caused his death. Crime scene tape blocked part of the street throughout the morning.
