2 arrested in shooting of 4-year-old girl

Shelby police have arrested two men in connection with Monday night’s drive-by shooting of a 4-year-old girl on Toms Street.

Aryanna Odoms was shot by a bullet that entered her home. She was in stable condition Wednesday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, after first being taken by emergency responders to Carolinas HealthCare System Cleveland, police said.

Police said tips from the community helped them identify suspects in the case.

On Thursday, police announced the arrests of Julian Kyle Jackson and Marquise Santonio Beam, both 24. Each was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm into occupied property.

Jackson and Beam were in the Cleveland County Jail without bail pending a first court appearance court Thursday.

Dozens of bullets were fired into Aryanna’s home shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. Police have not said why the home was targeted.
