Irwin Feldman, accused of beating 82-year-old mother to death, committed suicide, autopsy says
Irwin Feldman, accused of murder in his 82-year-old mother’s 2014 beating death, took his own life earlier this year, an autopsy released on Friday confirmed.
Irwin Feldman’s wife found his body in their bedroom closet on April 25, a belt looped around his neck. Police initially did not release a cause of death.
Feldman was out on bail after being charged in February with murder in connection with the death of Ina Feldman, who was found Feb. 4, 2014, in her townhouse on Torrey Pines Court.
Mother and son lived only a few doors down from each other. Irwin Feldman called 911, saying he found his mother dead and that it appeared she’d been robbed.
Her death – and the inability of police to identify a suspect for more than two years – sparked widespread fear in the neighborhood of mostly older people near Carmel Country Club.
An autopsy showed Ina Feldman had injuries all over her body, including blows to the back of her head.
