Woman hospitalized, another woman charged after Charlotte shooting
One woman was taken to the hospital and another taken to jail after a shooting in northeast Charlotte, according to officials.
Quavivious A. Andrews, 24, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. on the 1600 block of Ivy Meadow Drive, near the pool of The Piedmont at Ivy Meadow apartment complex.
Authorities said there was an argument between the two women at a pool party, WSOC-TV reported.
Medic said the wounded woman, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officers have not said what might have led to the shooting.
Jada Reeves, who lives in the apartment complex, said she was headed to the pool when she found out what had happened.
“I’m hoping that it’s an isolated incident and doesn’t happen again so I can live here in peace,” she said.
Residents told WBTV that violence was not the norm for the apartment complex.
“It definitely makes you think twice and be scared,” resident Diana Davis said. She said she hopes those involved in the shooting were outsiders who did not live in the complex.
Andrews was taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail and placed under a $50,000 bond.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
