Man, woman shot in west Charlotte within minutes of each other

A man and a woman were shot within three minutes and half a mile of each other in west Charlotte Wednesday, according to officials.

The shootings happened just after 4:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of Camp Greene Street and the 2600 block of Columbus Circle. Officers said a male was found shot on Camp Greene St. and a female on Columbus Cir.

Police said it appears the female was driving a vehicle when someone inside that vehicle shot the man on Camp Greene St. Someone then returned fire and the female was struck. Investigators said it is unclear if the male victim was the one who shot back, or if it was someone else.

Medic confirmed that the two victims were transported to Carolinas Medical Center. Police said both victims, whose names have not been released, are expected to be OK.

Investigators said a vehicle and a home were also damaged during the incidents.

It is not clear if anyone was taken into custody.
