Dozens of shots were fired into two homes at West Arrowood Road and Fawnbrook Lane in south Charlotte early Thursday.

A person was inside one of the homes but wasn’t injured, Observer news partner WBTV reported. No one was in the other home.

A heavy police presence remained at the scene for hours. Police have released no details about the incident but have called a news conference for 11 a.m. Police Major Mike Smathers is scheduled to discuss what police said is an increase in the number of shootings into occupied properties in Charlotte and the strategy CMPD is using to address the issue.
