Burke County sheriff’s deputy seriously injured in wreck
A Burke County sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured in a collision early Thursday while responding to a report of a break-in involving an intruder with a gun.
The deputy was traveling with his blue lights and siren on about 3 a.m. when he collided with a car on N.C. 18 North in Morganton.
The driver of the other car had turned the car’s lights off and appeared to be turning around in the road, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
