A Charlotte tennis coach remained jailed in Georgia on Thursday after being charged last week with fondling a 15-year-old girl and using a pen camera to film three other juveniles as they showered and used the bathroom.

Benjamin Joseph Swain, 42, is charged with child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in Macon, Ga., about 300 miles southwest of Charlotte.

He was arrested Friday in connection with a June 3 incident.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police search warrant, a 15-year-old says Swain fondled her and she did likewise to him on June 3 in Bibb County. A relative of the girl went to authorities after finding evidence of a relationship between the two on the girl’s phone, the sheriff’s office says.

Swain also confessed to using a pen camera to photograph another 15-year-old and two 14-year-olds while they used the shower and bathroom in the hotel room the four were sharing, the warrant says.

It remains unclear whether the four victims are from Charlotte or somewhere else, and why they were in a hotel with Swain.

CMPD say they seized the camera, a SIM card and a laptop computer from Swain’s town home on Thornbush Court off Interstate 485 in south Charlotte, along with a hand-written letter, a Christmas card, 14 CDs and an iPhone. According to the warrant, Swain told Georgia authorities that images of the juveniles showering and using the bathroom were contained on the equipment.

According to various web pages, Swain bills himself as a former professional tennis player with more than 25 years of experience. He says more than 40 of his students earned Division I scholarships.
